Meet our Staff…

Rachel Hanson Navarro

After Care Leader (Mon. - Wed.)

Supply and Support Staff

Hello everyone,

My name is Rachel and I'm delighted to introduce myself as the new After-School Care Leader and supply preschool teacher at One Forest. As the eldest daughter of five and a mom to my five-year-old daughter, Raylin, I've always been drawn to child development. This passion led me to earn a Bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Guelph, followed by studies in Educational Assistance at Conestoga College.

My approach with children and education emphasizes hands on learning through nature and play, aligning with the Montessori method. In my spare time I enjoy reading, outdoor activities with family (especially at our Sauble Beach cottage), practicing yoga, and expressing my creativity through drawing and painting. Previously, I owned a resin preservation business, creating keepsakes from flowers and sentimental items. I was even featured on the local news, here’s the link if you are interested: https://www.ctvnews.ca/kitchener/article/guelph-artist-preserving-flowers-from-special-occasions-in-resin/

The teachings and values of One Forest feel very aligned with my own and I am confident that I can add to the enrichment of your child’s lives, as I know they will add to the enrichment of my own.

Mira Samijlo

After Care Leader (Thurs. and Friday)

Supply and Support Staff

Mira Samijlo is a student from Kitchener who recently graduated from Rockway Mennonite Collegiate. She’s been involved in nature and music focused camps throughout her life, inspiring her later counsellor experiences in a Ukrainian children’s camp.

During her time in high school, her enjoyment of spending time with nature and deep diving into interests like history deepened. Having now graduated, she is excited to extend her involvement with children, nature, and camp through One Forest. She is happy for the opportunity to contribute to a meaningful camp experience for the new children she’s about to meet.
